Didn’t feel hungry for lunch today at work. So I busied myself deleting all my old and unimportant emails from my gmail account. I came across this email, which requested that I looked at this link. I don’t think I actually went into that link when the email was sent to me as I have had no recollection of the site when I loaded it this afternoon.

Yet, it was truly a special website, and particularly intriguing, especially after my last post about chivalry being dead and all these romanticized novels and movies etc being just a figment of imagination. AND coupled with the fact that this is a true 100% Malaysian moment, not just something that can be reasoned away by being a habit/culture of non-Malaysians, well, it really gives us all food for thought.

So click here if you are curious and kepoh enough to find out what I’m talking about. And though I have no association at all with this couple, I salute them :D

Alright… I admit it. I love this song. No matter how many times Hitz FM repetitiously plays it, I won’t get bored of it but blast it to my hearts content.

Altho I have to say, the lyrics are a bit egoistical… But I love the verse cos it really echoes what a lot of girls out there are saying….

Chivalry is dead.

And well, you gotta cut me some slack at being at the border of total prejudice against the opposite sex. I can actually count with my fingers the number of people that I can truly say, is a real gentleman, and one who respects and honours a woman, whether or not she deserves it and more importantly, treats her with the same respect and honour even if he is not interested in pursuing a relationship with her.

*sorry, seen too many seemingly gentlemanly guys, but who will only move his muscles to do these chivalrous things if the girl he is interested is very close by. These I do not count in my list at all. hah.*

Plus, I am a fan of these period novels (ah Mr. Darcy and the new-found Mr. Thornton!) AND a fan of super heroes and knights in shining armour who would do anything to save the world from destruction. No wonder, I am so disillusioned! bummer…

Well… just had a chat last night with a friend *annonymous at this point* on our *dark* past with the men we thought we were in love with… (altho in love is too strong a word…. LIKE would probably describe the feeling more aptly now), which triggered me to muse away on this point, and this thought came to me…

(pardon me if this may seem totally skewed and out of context… please correct me if I’m wrong… Don’t wanna become some cult!! )

Proverbs say that “He who finds a wife finds a good thing.”

Never in the Bible does it say, “She who finds a husband finds a good thing.”

So, does that mean that God created men in such a way that it is good for them to have a wife, but neutral for women to find a husband? Or does He already know that project a few thousands years later, the population would have more Christian women than Christian men, so therefore, if all the men got married, there would still be women “left over”?

LOL.

Now i’m a bit confused. hahaha…

So… lets all sing it together with Avril now!

Let me hear you say hey hey hey!

Hey hey hey!

Alright, now let me hear you say hey hey ho!

Hey hey ho!

I hate it when a guy doesn’t get the door,
even though I told him yesterday and the
day before…

I hate it when a guy doesn’t get the tab and I
have to put my money out and that looks bad!

Where are the hopes? Where are the dreams?
My Cinderella story scene. When do you think
they’ll finally see……

(Chorus)

That you’re not, not, not, gonna get any better,
you won’t, won’t, won’t, you won’t get rid of me
never, like it or not even though she’s a lot like
me….

We’re not the same, and yeah, yeah, yeah
I’m a lot to handle, if you don’t know, shove it,
I’m a hell of a scandal, me, I’m a scene, I’m a
drama queen, I’m the best damn thing that your
eyes have ever seen!

All right, All right, yeah…

I hate it when a guy doesn’t understand why a
certain time of month, I don’t want to hold his
hand, I hate it when they go out and we stay
in, and they come home smelling like their
ex-girlfriends…

I found my hopes, I found my dreams.
My Cinderella story scene. Now everybody’s
gonna see…..

(Chorus)

That you’re not, not, not, gonna get any better,
you won’t, won’t, won’t, you won’t get rid of me
never, like it or not even though she’s a lot like
me….

We’re not the same, and yeah, yeah, yeah
I’m a lot to handle, if you don’t know trouble,
I’m a hell of a scandal, me, I’m a scene, I’m a
drama queen, I’m the best damn thing that your
eyes have ever seen!

Give me an A!
Always give me what I want!
Give me a V!
Be very, very good to me!
R!
Are you gonna treat me right?
I!
I can put up a fight!
Give me an L!

Let me hear you scream loud!
Let me hear you scream loud!
1..2..3..4…

Where are the hopes? Where are the dreams?
My Cinderella story scene. When do you think
they’ll finally see……

(Chorus)

That you’re not, not, not, gonna get any better,
you won’t, won’t, won’t, you won’t get rid of me
never, like it or not even though she’s a lot like
me….

We’re not the same, and yeah, yeah, yeah
I’m a lot to handle, if you don’t know trouble,
I’m a hell of a scandal, me, I’m a scene, I’m a
drama queen, I’m the best damn thing that your
eyes have ever seen!

Let me hear you say hey hey hey!

Hey hey hey!

Alright, now let me hear you say hey hey ho!

Hey hey ho!

Hey hey hey!
Hey hey hey!
Hey hey hey!

I’m the best damn thing that your eyes have
ever seen!

God. This song is so bitter :D

Lord, I know that we will never be able to reconcile this gender difference in this life time. Will You please help me to grow to become the woman that You intend me to be? I don’t really care to get a man in my life, I have more than enough at the moment (plus, you never did say that she who finds a husband finds a good thing anyway) But well Lord, I don’t wanna become too cynical and critical about the opposite sex either way! That isn’t really what You want women to be like anyway! (Altho I see an alarming trend moving in that direction).

On Sunday, I was extremely satisfied!

After having lunch at Simply Fusion, Jaya 1, Wai Yan, Josephine and I went over to the MPH warehouse sale. Although it was extremely HOT, I was overwhelmed with the mountain of books on sale. Anyway, after a long hour (or two) of browsing through tonnes of books and agonising over what to buy and what not to buy, we finally managed to get our money’s worth.

I got myself two books:

1. The Diary of a Young Girl (or the diary of Anne Frank)

2. One Day the Soldiers Came (a book on real stories of children and the effect war has on them – whether they were displaced, forced into refugee camps, exposed to violence at a young age, trained to be child soldiers etc)

I was actually looking for Elizabeth Gaskell’s book North and South (since I watched the BBC series… :P see my previous postings on that), but I could not locate it! Ah well….

Either way, I got what I was interested to read about. The first book has always been on my “to-read list”, but never got round to purchasing that book, and well, I’ve always been fascinated with historical wars (altho i’m not obsessed about it like some guys are), I thought it was about time that I up my understanding on that – thus the book One Day the Soldiers Came.

Besides, they were real cheap anyway.

Anyway, Monday was Deepavali, so it was a public holiday. It was not my plan, but I ended up in the MPH sale AGAIN!! Hahaha…. well this time I was resolved that I would not buy anymore books, since I’ve already spent so much time browsing and pondering about it just the day before! So whilst waiting for my friend to finish browsing, I chanced upon this book, which I could not resist! And thank God I picked it up when I did, cos when I came back for another round, the title was already picked clean by others and there was no more on the shelf!

My My.

It was none other than my North and South novel, Elizabeth Gaskell!

=)

And for RM 8, which is like GBP 1.50? bargain!!!

I’llprobably wait till I have a long holiday at the end of the year, where I can properly read and savour this novel…

But well, I’ll definitely write something about these books when I finish reading them! :D
