A friend gave this CD to me on my birthday in my second year of uni (I can’t say which year anymore… Takes too much time to pause and count it out).

It was a guy artist I’ve never heard of in my life (and till now, never heard about again).

My initial thoughts were… hmm… perhaps this guy gave it to me cos someone gave this CD to him and he didn’t want it (haha… such mean thoughts eh? =P I can safely say this here cos I doubt that the person who gave me this CD would ever bother to read my blog; or even remember giving me this CD for my birthday… hmm… is that another mean thought too or just me thinking I know my friend’s nature? I can never tell!).

ANYWAY… what I discovered back then was that the CD was pretty good, and I could listen to it on repeat in my room – back in my second year of uni. His songs have pretty cool lyrics too… (and I wonder why I never actually bothered to google up this artist on the net when I first received this present. Perhaps because I did not have a laptop/internet access in my first two years of uni; and I wasn’t such a google/youtube junkie back then. hmm hmm).

Here goes to the relatively unknown Ben Glover, from the album “26 Letters”:

Hope Will Be My Song

I have been tired, completely uninspired
I have been dull and dreary, and I feel alone
And tears fill my eyes
But I’m too weak to cry

But hope will be my song
And I will carry on

Am I losing my touch
Am I asking for too much, oh no
Oh, I used to be so full of passion
But now I’m bitter and cold

And I’m gasping for light
I can’t give up without a fight
So I fall down on my knees
Oh, I feel you holding me

Chorus:
Hope will be my song
I will carry on
I was lost in this forest of doubt
When your mercy escorted me out
I was tied up and sinking at sea
But then you rescued me
And hope will be my song

Bridge:
You shake me, remind me
That I am a soul who’s forgiven and free
When I stand, when I fall
I still will sing

Chorus 2:
And hope will be my song
And I will carry on
I was lost in the forest of doubt
When your mercy escorted me out
I was tied up and sinking at sea
But then you rescued me
You rescued me, You rescued me
You rescued me, You rescued me
You rescued me, You rescued me
And hope will be my song

There’s no videos on youtube with his songs! That’s how obscure he is, I guess… =)

  1. Hey…just happened upon this. Ben is my son. He was a christian artist for awhile, then changed to mainly songwriting…christian and mainstream. He still has many offers to be an artist, but prefers to be home with the family. He is currently with EMI with a major publishing deal. Look him up on myspace – and take a listen to some more songs….
Hope Will Be My Song is still one of my favorites……but his recent songs are stunning!!
recheck youtube….i am pretty sure he is on there somewhere!
